Scripture

Ezekiel 24:1-26:21; Hebrews 11:1-16; Psalm 110:1-7; Proverbs 27:14

Observation

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

“He (Abraham) considered Him faithful who had made the promise.”
Hebrews 11:11b

“All these people (exhaustive list of chapter 11) were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are… longing for a better country – a heavenly one.” Hebrews 11:13-16

“If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.” Proverbs 27:14

Application

Hope translates into certainty and conviction. Hope means that the invisible, intangible things which God has promised are more certain and sure than anything we experience in this physical world. Hope assures us that “reality” is so much bigger than what we see, touch, smell, hear and taste. God’s reality is not limited by our human inability to perceive it.

Prayer

“Lord, I believe in a land, a country, that is infinitely superior to my present experience. I believe that You are faithful to keep all of Your promises. And, I believe that You will become my ever-increasing reward as I seek You.”
